Steve Prchal Memorial Scholarship
First time IECC attendees can apply for a Prchal Scholarship that covers Invertebrates in Education and Conservation Conference (IECC) registration, round-trip transportation, room & board, and meals.
Steve Prchal’s deep love of nature was matched by his passion for sharing all things arthropod with the world. When Steve passed in 2015, he left behind countless people whose lives were forever changed by his friendship, knowledge, kindness, and passion for science education. The Steve Prchal Memorial Scholarship helps foster the next generation of environmental educators to ensure that Steve’s goal of “turning the world onto bugs” will continue in his memory.
The Steve Prchal Scholarship Fund is sponsored by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Terrestrial Invertebrate Taxon Advisory Group (TITAG).
2026 Steve Prchal Memorial Scholarship applications are now being accepted. Scholarship application deadline is March 15, 2026.

Scholarship Goals:
- Foster the passion of individuals interested in the field of entomology
- Allow for professional networking and mentorship opportunities to individuals looking to pursue studies and/or a career in entomology
- Offer an opportunity to attend the annual IECC Conference
- Provide professional development opportunities in the form of field trips, workshops, and scientific and educational lectures.
The Scholarship provides funding (up to $2,000) for:
- IECC registration (full) including one workshop and one field trip of your choice
- Round-trip airfare from the award recipient’s point of origin to the destination city
- Round-trip airport shuttle ground transportation
- Hotel/lodging throughout the duration of the conference (based on double occupancy rate)
- A stipend to cover meals and incidentals
